COMMISSIONER FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT RECEIVES CHILD FROM STATE CID, ENSURES WELFARE OF SUSPECT'S FAMILY

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development has stepped in to ensure the welfare of a young child following the arrest of his mother by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A police officer from the State CID brought the suspect, Mrs. Chisom Chukwuyere, along with her little child, Chukwutulumugo Chukwuyere, to the Ministry, where the child was formally handed over to officials before the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.

In line with established child welfare protocols, the Ministry received the child and immediately commenced due process to ensure his safety and wellbeing. Following proper procedure, the child was subsequently handed over to the family of the suspect's husband, Mr. Chukwudi Chukwuyere.

Chukwutulumugo is now under the full custody of Mrs. Rita Onuoha, elder sister to Mr. Chukwudi Chukwuyere, who has assured the Ministry of her commitment to take full responsibility for the child and his siblings during this period.

The Ministry has assured the public that it will continue to monitor the wellbeing of the child and his siblings to ensure they are well cared for in the coming days.
