The boys we raise and the boys we train are not always the same.

A boy can be trained to perform, compete, earn and succeed. He can learn skills, discipline and ambition. But a boy who is truly raised learns something deeper, character, empathy, responsibility, integrity and how to carry the weight of life with wisdom.

Training teaches a man how to make a living; raising teaches him how to live.

One produces competence, the other cultivates conscience. One prepares him for the marketplace, the other prepares him for humanity. The tragedy of many generations is that we have become excellent trainers but absent raisers. We teach boys how to win arguments, build careers and acquire possessions, yet often fail to teach them how to love, endure hardship, honor commitments and treat others with dignity.

A society survives not because it produces skilled men but because it raises good men. Skills build economies; character builds civilizations
