Former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus has accused the ruling APC of using the judiciary to weaken opposition parties and pave the way for a one-party system in Nigeria. Reacting to a Federal High Court ruling that deregistered several political parties, including the ADC, Secondus described the decision as a dangerous threat to multi-party democracy, voter participation, and the rule of law. He argued that dissolving parties midway through the electoral cycle disenfranchises voters, creates political uncertainty, and limits political competition. According to him, the move benefits established political forces while shutting out alternative voices and grassroots movements. Secondus warned that if such actions continue unchecked, they could erode democratic principles and undermine the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process.
