Anambra Govt & Police Confirm Arrest Over Abuse of 10-Year-Old Boy

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 3 suspects over the brutal assault of a 10-year-old boy in Odume Layout, Isiowulu, Idemili North LGA.

*Suspects:*
1. Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40
2. Chisom Chukwuyere, 30
3. Arum Goodluck, 16

*Police findings:*
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police PPRO, stated that Mrs Chisom Chukwuyere confessed during interrogation to inflicting burns on the child using melted plastic. The boy sustained multiple injuries and is receiving medical care and support under state protection. State CID has taken over for investigation and prosecution.

*Government response:*
Hon. Esther Onyekesi, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, confirmed the child is under government protection. _“The offenders must face the law for this barbaric act. If you see something, please, say something.”_ Her team and the Obosi Community woman leader have visited the victim.

*Commissioner of Police:*
CP Ikioye Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protect lives and ensure justice.
