Man Kidnapped Early This Morning in Kobi Land
A man was reportedly kidnapped early this morning in Kobi Land, near Pẹ̀kútú Southwest.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Police Area F Command, one Mr. Ṣèlúpé, popularly known as Korope, was said to have been kidnapped in front of a beer parlour located close to Kobi Motor Park.
According to the Command's PRO, CSP Gbèjà Erétete, who spoke with our correspondent in a telephone conversation this morning, the incident has been confirmed to be true.
Speaking with a friend of the victim, who expressed disbelief over the incident, he said:
«"We were together at the same petrol station yesterday evening to buy petrol. I came with my car, but he came with a keg. Korope told me that his car had run out of fuel along the Akùrù Expressway and that he needed to buy petrol in a 25-litre keg. Unfortunately, I left him at the filling station because I was attended to before him and the queue was too long."»
An eyewitness also stated that he saw Korope at the beer parlour very late last night, drinking as though there would be no tomorrow. He said:
«"Mo rí i lálẹ́ àná níbí tí olófo rẹ̀ ti ń mu gúdà bí ẹni pé kò níí mù míì mọ́. Lóòótọ́, bí ọmọkùnrin bá ṣíṣe, ó tún máa ní àsìkò ìgbádùn, ṣùgbọ́n walahi, iwọntúnwọnsì ni ohun gbogbo. Mo sọ fún Korope pé ó yá ń 'lé ṣùgbọ́n ó f' àáké tí kọ́rí."»
The eyewitness, identified as Adamu, further revealed that after becoming intoxicated, Mr. Ṣèlúpé, popularly known as Korope, tied the 25-litre keg of petrol around his waist with iron chains.
According to him:
«"Alákọrí ara rẹ̀, síso ló so kẹ́ẹ̀gì pẹtiro mọ́dìí, mo túu tì. Ṣé ó yẹ ká wá máa fi ẹ̀mí ara wa wewu nítorí bí 'lùú ṣe rí?"»
Adamu concluded by advising members of the public not to endanger their lives because of the current state of affairs in the country.
Meanwhile, CSP Gbèjà Erétete assured residents of the area that the Police Force would not condone any act of terrorism within the locality and that the perpetrators would be brought to justice in no time.
