Ohio police have retired the Knightscope K5 patrol robot less than a year after its deployment

The robot had been patrolling a parking lot since July 2025, but during that time it did not help solve a single crime or assist in any arrests. More than $128,000 was spent on the project.

Similar robotic patrol programs were previously discontinued in New York City and at San Antonio International Airport due to low effectiveness and technical issues.
