Open Letter to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio
Dear Senate President,
I write as a concerned Nigerian who is deeply troubled by the allegations of fraud and financial irregularities surrounding NNPC Limited. At a time when Nigeria continues to borrow heavily to fund its budget and millions of citizens struggle daily with hunger, unemployment, and poverty, any report of missing public funds must be treated with the utmost seriousness.
The amount being discussed is too significant to be ignored or swept under the carpet. Nigerians deserve transparency, accountability, and justice. Every kobo belonging to the nation should be accounted for, especially in a country blessed with enormous natural resources yet facing severe economic hardship.
Many Nigerians go to bed hungry. Families are finding it increasingly difficult to afford food, education, healthcare, and basic necessities. It would be a grave injustice if those entrusted with managing the nation’s wealth are allowed to evade responsibility for any wrongdoing.
As the head of the National Assembly, I respectfully urge you and the Senate to conduct a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into the allegations. The Nigerian people must be informed of the facts, and anyone found culpable should be held accountable in accordance with the law, regardless of status or political affiliation.
This matter must not be covered up. The credibility of our institutions and the trust of the Nigerian people depend on a transparent process that puts the national interest above all else.
History will remember those who stood for accountability and justice when the nation needed it most.
Yours faithfully,
A Concerned Nigerian Citizen
