Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has strongly criticised the Federal High Court judgement ordering the deregistration of five political parties, describing it as an abuse of court process and a violation of an existing Court of Appeal order. According to Adeleke, the appellate court had already directed a stay of proceedings, making the lower court’s decision both surprising and legally questionable.

Calling for calm among supporters, the governor expressed confidence that the Court of Appeal would overturn the ruling and reaffirm the rights of voters and political parties. He insisted that the Accord Party would remain on the ballot for the August 15 governorship election and vowed to continue with campaign activities as scheduled, describing the court decision as a distraction from the electoral process.

Adeleke also addressed local political developments, welcoming a court decision that dismissed attempts to extend the tenure of certain Osun APC chairmen and urging law enforcement authorities to withdraw support for what he described as illegally occupying council officials.
