JUST IN: 20 Killed in Lakurawa T£rr0r Attack in Kebbi State

Suspected Lakurawa jihadists have k!11ed 20 people in an attack on the Fesken Rafi community in Arewa district, Kebbi State, near the Niger border. The attack reportedly occurred a few days ago but was only reported over the weekend after the Kebbi State Deputy Governor visited the area.

According to a confidential security report prepared for the UN, the attack came after a lull in violence by Lakurawa in recent months, suggesting a resurgence of the jihadist group and possibly intended to demonstrate its capability to stage complex operations despite intensified military offensives.

The Lakurawa group was targeted by US airstrikes in December 2025. Researchers link the group to the Islamic State in the Sahel, which is primarily active in Mali and neighbouring Niger. The report warned that Lakurawa violence could transform into a "transnational threat" due to the group's multinational composition.
