The Netherlands secured a point on their #FIFAWC2026 debut, so now we'll enjoy one of their most delicious traditional recipes: Oliebollen!.

Oliebollen (literally translated as "oil balls") are traditional Dutch doughnuts. They consist of a yeasted dough that is deep-fried into golden-brown, crispy spheres, remaining fluffy and soft on the inside. They are most commonly filled with raisins, currants, or apple pieces and finished with a generous dusting of powdered sugar.

They are deeply ingrained in Dutch culture as a seasonal holiday treat, eaten heavily around Christmas and on New Year's Eve. They are traditionally enjoyed at home while watching fireworks or purchased from seasonal street stalls known as oliebollenkramen.

Do they remind you of a typical Nigerian dish we all love? ๐Ÿ˜‰โค๏ธ

You can find Oliebollen stalls throughout the Netherlands from October to maybe February. They are basically fluffy donut balls..
