Tinubu Has Failed Nigerians and the Armed Forces

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's foremost responsibility as Commander-in-Chief is the protection of lives and property. Yet, three years into his administration, Nigerians continue to witness persistent insecurity across the country.

Bandits and terrorist groups have repeatedly attacked military formations and communities, claiming the lives of brave servicemen and women. Disturbingly, even senior military officers have fallen in the line of duty. The frequency of these losses raises difficult questions about the effectiveness of the government's security strategy.

Mr. President, are you fully aware of the number of soldiers and senior officers who have lost their lives during your tenure? Do these reports weigh on your conscience when you retire for the night?

The Nigerian Armed Forces are among the most professional and courageous institutions in Africa. Their personnel continue to make enormous sacrifices under challenging conditions. Yet many Nigerians believe the military has been overstretched and under-supported, often performing duties that should not be their primary responsibility, including routine highway operations.

This is not merely about statistics. Behind every fallen soldier is a family left to mourn, children left without parents, and a nation that owes them a debt of gratitude.

Leadership is ultimately measured by results. Nigerians want to see a clear strategy to restore security, strengthen the military, improve intelligence gathering, and reclaim territories and communities from criminal elements. The nation cannot continue to normalize the loss of those who have sworn to defend it.

The question Nigerians are asking is simple: after three years in office, are we safer today than we were before?
