๐ฅ๐ STUDENT SUES UNIVERSITY, FIGHTS FOR 19 YEARS & WINS โฆ20 MILLION! ๐ฑโ๏ธ
๐ Case: Victor v. F.U.T.A. (2026) 8
NWLR (Pt. 2044) 33
What would you do if your university gave you a lower degree class than you actually earned?๐
Most people would move on.
But Adebayo Victor refused to accept what he believed was an injustice.๐ฅ
๐งญ After graduating from FUTA in 2007 with a Second Class Lower degree, he became convinced that some of his scores had been wrongly recorded. For four years, he reportedly sought a review of his results, but his complaints were not resolved.
In 2011, he took the matter to court.
What followed was a legal battle that lasted nearly two decades:
๐ 2013 โ His case was dismissed, but he appealed and secured a retrial.
๐ 2017 โ A court ordered the university to re-mark his scripts.
๐ 2022 โ After years of legal proceedings, the scripts were finally re-marked.
Then came the shocking revelation...
โ
Victor had been right all along!
The re-marking reportedly upgraded his degree from a Second Class Lower to a Second Class Upper (2:1).
But that wasn't the end.
The Supreme Court also examined the university's handling of the matter and awarded:
๐ฐ โฆ18,000,000 in damages
๐ฐ โฆ2,000,000 as litigation costs
๐ต Total Award: โฆ20,000,000
The case has sparked conversations nationwide about student rights, accountability, and the importance of never giving up when you believe you're right. ๐ช
๐ญ One question:
Could you fight for 19 years to defend your academic future?

Opportunity lost may not have been regained but he has laid a good legacy foundation, that such a fight can be won.
