Your Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Your Excellencies, Governors of the 36 States, Chairmen of the 774 Local Government Areas, Opposition parties, independent candidates 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern over the widespread and persistent harassment, extortion, and abuse of 240 million Nigerians at police checkpoints across the country in the 36 states 774 LGA. Recent reports, including the alarming revelation of 52 checkpoints on the Idiroko–Owode Road alone, highlight a systemic problem that continues to harm 240 million Nigerians in the 36 states 774 LGA

Across the 36 states and 774 LGAs, countless motorists, traders, and commuters are forced to pay illegal fees simply to move freely within their own country. These checkpoints have become points of extortion rather than instruments of security. Nigerians are routinely threatened, delayed, and intimidated, with no meaningful security checks being conducted.

We respectfully demand the following urgent reforms:

Abolish all police checkpoints nationwide in the 36 states 774 LGA, as they have become centers of corruption rather than safety. Nigerian police go and bring back our children kidnapped in the last 6 weeks now and also bring back Nigerian children kidnapped since 1999 if you are serious no disrespect we just been real & honest enough is enough

Respectfully Mr. President we demand you deploy modern security tools such as drones and CCTV cameras across all 36 states and 774 LGAs to ensure transparent, technology-driven surveillance.

Mandate the use of body cameras for all police officers to ensure accountability and reduce abuse in the 36 states 774 LGA

Investigate and publicly expose officers involved in extortion, including uploading photographic and video evidence of misconduct to ensure transparency.

Reform the Nigerian Police Force and review the role of the DSS to ensure they serve 240 million Nigerians rather than intimidate them.

Nigeria cannot continue to allow 240 million Nigerians to be subjected to daily extortion under the guise of security. True security comes from trust, transparency, and technology—not from intimidation at roadside checkpoints.

We demand immediate action to restore dignity, safety, and accountability in policing across the nation. No lies no slogans we demand visible progress
