Abia State has been ranked the second-best state in Nigeria for road quality, according to the 2025 pSPI Report published by StatiSense, a development many residents and stakeholders have attributed to the ongoing infrastructure transformation under Governor Alex Otti.

The report placed Abia in second position nationwide, behind only Gombe State, while outperforming several states traditionally known for infrastructural development. The ranking also makes Abia the highest-ranked state in Southern Nigeria and the highest-ranked state in the South East region.

The latest recognition comes barely three years into Governor Otti’s administration, which has made road construction, rehabilitation, and urban renewal a central focus of governance. Since assuming office, the administration has embarked on the reconstruction of several strategic roads across Aba, Umuahia, and other parts of the state, opening up economic corridors and improving connectivity for residents and businesses.
