There are things that can be done which are not rocket science, yet little is being done about them while leaders continue to make reassuring statements. I would urge the President to look at recent history under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former President Goodluck Jonathan. Obasanjo was firm and proactive in addressing insecurity, and there was a strong sense of state authority. People feared the Nigerian state because they believed there would be consequences for wrongdoing, and that sense of accountability was clearly present.
