In Nepal there is a famous expression-
To the flower, the world is full of flowers
To the thorn, the world is full of thorns.

The idea is that our outlook shapes how we experience the world. Someone who focusses on beauty, kindness, and hope tends to notice those things around them, while someone focused on negetivity, hostility or pain may perceice the world very differently. Our perspectives shapes our reality.
