Your Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Opposition parties, independent candidates 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern shared by millions of Nigerians regarding the ongoing insecurity, persistent kidnappings, and the perception that government responses have not matched the scale of the crisis.
Governor Ahmed Ododo recently vowed that Kogi State would not surrender any territory to criminals and ruled out paying ransom. While this statement is welcome, Nigerians across all 36 states and the 774 LGAs are exhausted by repeated assurances without lasting solutions. Many citizens believe that for decades, successive governments have relied on slogans and photo opportunities instead of addressing the root causes of insecurity.
Since 1999, countless children and Nigerians have been kidnapped, and many families still wait in anguish. Meanwhile, high‑profile officials receive rapid rescue operations, creating a painful contrast that erodes public trust. Nigerians are asking how leaders sleep at night while Nigerian families remain in fear and grief for decades
Across the world — in the USA, UK, and over 195 countries — governments do not negotiate with or pay ransom to terrorist groups. These groups are confronted, dismantled, and prosecuted. In Nigeria, however, the continued payment of ransom has strengthened criminal networks and created the perception that elements within past and present governments may be enabling or benefiting from insecurity. This perception must be addressed transparently and urgently.
Nigerians are demanding real, structural solutions:
Jobs and economic opportunities for the 240 million Nigerians youths and graduates in the 36 states 774 LGA
Free electricity after decades of paying for power while living in darkness & poverty
CCTV cameras and drone surveillance across all 36 states and 774 LGAs.
Free and accessible education, as promised repeatedly over the years.
Free internet access to support learning, innovation, and economic growth.
Investment in agriculture to ensure food security for all Nigerians.
Affordable and accessible housing across the country in the 36 states 774 LGA
These are not luxuries. They are the basic expectations of a nation with Nigeria’s population, resources, and potential.
Your Excellency, Nigerians are demanding for decisive leadership that goes beyond statements. We demand that you confront corruption at every level — from the executive to the legislature to the judiciary — and implement reforms that restore trust in governance.
Most urgently, we demand the safe return of all kidnapped Nigerians since 1999. Their lives cannot be reduced to political talking points. Their families deserve closure, justice, and the assurance that this nation values every child.
Nigeria stands at a crossroads. The actions taken now will determine whether the country moves toward stability and dignity or continues in cycles of fear and hardship.
We demand you to act with the urgency, transparency, and compassion that this moment requires.
