Senator Seriake Dickson has attributed the controversies surrounding the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries to provisions in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill that mandate direct primaries for political parties. Speaking on Arise News Night, the NDC National Leader argued that while the law was designed to promote inclusiveness, it has overstretched party structures, created logistical challenges, and fueled disputes—even among established parties. Dickson said the NDC’s rapid growth and the demands of conducting all-inclusive primaries led to operational bottlenecks, but maintained that the party remains stable and is actively resolving complaints before submitting final candidate lists to INEC. He also dismissed allegations of ticket monetisation and urged supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to avoid actions that could undermine party unity.
