Instant success and hubris are a deadly combo if not managed well.
Watching Senator Seriake Dickson on set with Charles Aniagolu of @arisenews yesterday night left me thinking.
Yes, Dickson is the founder and national leader of the new NDC but as an experienced politician I expected him to be less combative.
As leader his primary job should be to galvanize mass support across board rather than unwittingly polarize the party. Trying, albeit unconvincingly, to play down the good will and momentum his party has received by the entry of Mr Peter Obi and Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso is unhelpful. Equally talking down on the Obidient Movement can only harm the prospects of the party at the polls next year.
And is it just mere coincidence that earlier that same yesterday he announced the appointment of Theo Agada as the party's head of New Media and Public Communication.

For context Theo is a very fierce, in fact, very toxic critic of Mr Obi and all that he represents. He's been attacking Obi since 2022 till November last year. His Twitter timeline is still full of the needless Obi bashing. How will such an adversary manage the image of the party vis-a-vis its presidential candidate he had so viscerally attacked?
Only Dickson knows and understands his game plan. For now we can only watch from the sidelines.
