“MTN, Glo, and Airtel Should Stop Selling Recycled SIM Cards to Customers” — Lawyer Raises Alarm
A lawyer has called on MTN, Glo, and Airtel to stop issuing recycled phone numbers to customers, warning that some of these lines may have previously been used by criminals or bandits. According to him, the practice poses serious security and financial risks, especially amid Nigeria’s current security challenges.
“I am suing MTN because they sold me a recycled line despite my specific request for a new number at their office. Since I started using the line, I have been receiving bank alerts and debit notifications that have nothing to do with me. I am deeply concerned because I have no idea who owned the number before it was assigned to me,” he said.
