Your Excellencies Esteemed Delegates of the 114th Session of the International Labor Conference, we hope this correspondence finds you well 240 million Nigerians are writing to you Esteemed Geneva, Switzerland, where the global community has gathered once again to reaffirm its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of every child Nigeria and globally. As discussions continue, we wish to express a clear and urgent message on behalf of concerned 240 million Nigerians who believe that the time for decisive action is now.

Nigeria has repeatedly stated its commitment to eliminating child labor, including through the remarks delivered by Mr. Magaji Ademu, Director of the Labor Inspectorate Department at the Ministry of Labor and Employment. He highlighted ongoing efforts and the development of key policy frameworks supported by international partners.

While these commitments are welcome, the reality on the ground demands far more urgency. Millions of Nigerian children remain out of school, working in hazardous conditions, and deprived of the basic rights guaranteed to them under international conventions and Nigeria’s own laws.

Respectfully we therefore call on the International Labor Conference, its member states, and all relevant stakeholders to apply meaningful pressure on the Nigerian government to:

Ensure that every Nigerian child across all 36 states and 774 local government areas has access to free, quality education immediately, not by 2030.

Enforce the abolition of child labor now, with no delays, exceptions, or gradual timelines.

Strengthen monitoring, enforcement, and accountability mechanisms to ensure that commitments translate into real change.

Nigeria cannot wait until 2030. Our children cannot wait. Every day lost is another day a child is denied education, safety, and a future.

We urge the global community to stand firmly with Nigerian children and insist on immediate, measurable action.
