Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike, and Minister of State for the FCT Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, 240 million Nigerians are writing as a concerned Nigerian who has followed your recent commissioning of the Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) and your remarks urging residents and business owners in the Federal Capital Territory to pay taxes, ground rents, and other statutory charges.

While infrastructure development is important, we appeal to you to consider the daily reality of over 240 million Nigerians who continue to struggle with poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and limited access to essential services. 240 million Nigerians are living in darkness, without stable electricity, without affordable healthcare, and without the economic opportunities needed to support their families.

At a time when so many are struggling, we demand you to lead by example. Nigerians are calling for a government that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians above all else. This includes:

Redirecting the salaries and allowances of top political office holders toward fixing critical infrastructure across all 36 states and 774 local government areas.

Creating sustainable jobs for millions of Nigerians who are eager to work and contribute to the nation’s growth.

Building and funding free, functional hospitals, schools, and affordable housing so that every citizen has access to basic human needs.

Addressing the root causes of insecurity, including poverty, unemployment, and lack of opportunity.

Intensifying efforts to rescue all Nigerians who have been kidnapped or displaced by violence since the late 1990s.

Leadership begins with sacrifice. Nigerians are willing to support national development, but they also expect their leaders to demonstrate accountability, empathy, and shared responsibility. Taxation should not be the first solution when 240 million Nigerians are already struggling to survive for decades

We respectfully ask that you consider policies that place the well‑being of 240 million Nigerians at the center of governance. A nation cannot thrive when its citizens are suffering, and true progress is measured not only by roads and buildings but by the quality of life of 240 million Nigerians

Thank you for your attention to this demand. We urge it contributes to a broader conversation about building a more just, secure, and prosperous Nigeria for all 240 million Nigerians
