The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified efforts to strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 general election, with senior leaders engaging members of the Kwankwasiya movement in high-level reconciliation talks in Kano. The closed-door meeting, led by NDC National Leader Henry Seriake Dickson and other top party officials, focused on resolving disagreements between the movement and existing party structures while promoting inclusiveness and cohesion.

Following the discussions, the party said mediation efforts were making progress and reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, insisting that no candidates would be imposed in Kano or any other state. The NDC also warned members against relying on unofficial lists claiming to contain primary election results, stressing that no official outcomes have been released.

The reconciliation drive highlights the party’s broader strategy to unite opposition forces, strengthen internal structures and position itself for a stronger showing in the highly anticipated 2027 elections.
