When Strangers Become “Safer” Than Parents.

Many children find it easier to open up to outsiders because they fear being judged, ignored, punished, or misunderstood at home. Sometimes, a stranger listens more patiently, speaks more kindly, or makes the child feel “safe,” and this can make children vulnerable to manipulation, abuse, and dangerous secrets. As parents and caregivers, the goal is not to control every conversation a child has, but to build a home where children feel heard, respected, and emotionally safe enough to speak freely without fear. A child who is comfortable talking to their parents is less likely to seek comfort, validation, or protection from the wrong people. #ChildSeries.
