Acts 4:31 (NIV)

> “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

This verse comes immediately after the early believers prayed for courage in the face of persecution. Rather than asking God to remove their difficulties, they asked for boldness to continue proclaiming His message.

Key Lessons

1. Prayer brings God's presence and power.
The shaking of the meeting place was a visible sign that God had heard and responded to their prayer. It demonstrated His presence among them.

2. The Holy Spirit empowers believers.
They were "filled with the Holy Spirit," not merely for personal encouragement, but for ministry and witness. The Spirit gave them courage and strength.

3. Boldness is a result of God's work.
The believers did not rely on their own confidence. Their boldness came from the Holy Spirit's empowerment.

4. Opposition did not stop their mission.
Despite threats from authorities, they continued to speak God's Word faithfully. Their prayer transformed fear into courage.

Personal Reflection

This verse reminds us that when we pray sincerely and seek God's will, He can strengthen us in ways that go beyond our natural abilities. The result is often not the removal of challenges, but the courage to face them and remain faithful.

Prayer:
"Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me the courage to speak Your truth with love and boldness, especially when I face fear or opposition. Amen."
