Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde, 240 million Nigerians are writing out of deep concern, frustration, and anguish shared by millions of Nigerians who feel unprotected, unheard, and abandoned at a time when leadership should be most present.
With all due respect sirs your foremost constitutional duty is the protection of Nigerians lives and property for over 240 million Nigerians. Today,240 million Nigerians are asking why this duty is not being fulfilled.
Families are grieving. Children have been missing for five weeks after being kidnapped, and their parents are living through a nightmare with no clear answers, no transparency, and no visible urgency from those entrusted with their safety.
At the same time, the nation is being warned of heightened flood risks across all 33 LGAs in Oyo State, based on the High Impact Based Forecast issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency. Nigerians deserve to know what preventive measures are being taken now—not after another tragedy occurs.
It is painful for Nigerians to watch selective urgency in government response. The rapid rescue of the Minister of Power’s family within two days shows that swift action is possible when the political will exists. This contrast has left many Nigerians feeling that their lives are valued differently.
Sir, Nigerians are not asking for miracles. They are asking for fairness, empathy, and decisive action. They are asking for their children to be brought home. They are asking for proactive flood mitigation, not condolences after preventable loss. They are asking for leadership that feels their pain.
Every day that passes without answers deepens public distrust. Every night that parents go to bed without their children is a wound on the nation’s conscience.
We demand you to sirs respectfully
Provide a transparent update on the efforts to rescue the kidnapped children.
Deploy all necessary security resources to bring them home safely.
Communicate clearly the preventive measures being implemented to address the forecasted floods.
Demonstrate empathy and compassion through visible, people-centered action.
Nigerians are watching the global world is watching as well and demanding for leadership that rises to this moment.
