Your Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Inspector General of Police, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern about the ongoing abductions of Nigerian schoolchildren and the treatment of peaceful protesters calling for their rescue.

Respectfully no Nigerian should ever be jailed, harmed, or killed for engaging in peaceful protest. 240 million Nigerians have a constitutional right to demand safety, accountability, and the protection of our children.

Instead of focusing state resources on suppressing peaceful demonstrations, the priority must be the immediate rescue of the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and their teachers, as well as the countless children kidnapped across Nigeria since 1999.

It is distressing that while families are suffering and children remain missing, significant public funds continue to be spent on political security, luxury, and non‑essential expenditures. Nigerians expect empathy, compassion, and decisive action from their leaders.

Security operatives sealing off Aso Rock and Eagle Square in response to peaceful calls for justice sends the wrong message. The Nigerian Police should be fully mobilized to rescue our children, not to silence the voices of those demanding their safe return.

The world is watching — from the United States and the United Kingdom to over 195 countries and the United Nations. Nigerian government, opposition parties, independent candidates must demonstrate that it values the lives of its Nigerian children and respects the rights of its 240 million Nigerians
