Your Excellencies President Tinubu and the Leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern regarding two urgent matters affecting Nigerian citizens.
Respectfully first, multiple independent Nigerian news outlets have confirmed the arrest of Mr. Akaninyene Udo, also known as "AK Philo," by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for allegedly spreading false and provocative security alerts on social media. While we do not condone threats, misinformation, or the spread of fake news, we respectfully request clarity on which social media platform this alleged message was posted. Transparency is essential for public trust.
Second, and far more urgent, our children who were kidnapped by boko haram five weeks ago remain missing. We are devastated, and we are demanding for the same level of technology, urgency, and coordinated effort that was used to rescue the family members of the Minister of Power. Nigerian families deserve equal protection, regardless of status or position.
We ask if the police, DSS, military, and other security agencies can act swiftly in some cases, why can’t the same be done for our missing children? Their lives matter. Their family's matter. Nigeria must do better.
We also demand for compassion in the case of AK Philo. If his actions were misguided rather than malicious, a warning may be more appropriate than imprisonment. Nigerian youths belong in schools, not in jail.
For decades, Nigerians have watched as 240 million Nigerians are arrested or harmed for minor offenses while corrupt politicians continue without accountability. This must change. We demand the government to demonstrate fairness, justice, and humanity.
We also demand the following reforms to rebuild trust:
Police officers should wear body cameras nationwide now 6/8/2026
CCTV cameras should be installed across all 36 states and 774 LGAs.
Security agencies must prioritize the safety of all 240 million Nigerians equally.
Over 240 million Nigerians, along with the international community, are watching. Nigeria is not perfect, but it can do better. We demand you to do the needful.
Respectfully bring back our children now 6/8/2026
