Iran has strongly rejected reports that the United States is considering using frozen Iranian assets to compensate Gulf allies for damage caused during the recent regional conflict, describing any such move as illegal and warning of consequences. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Iran’s assets are “neither war spoils for Washington nor a payment fund for its allies,” insisting that Gulf states have no grounds to seek reparations from Tehran. His remarks followed a Reuters report that US officials are assessing damage costs in Gulf countries affected by Iranian missile and drone attacks, with reconstruction estimates reaching as high as $58 billion. Tehran argues that some regional governments supported actions against Iran and should instead compensate it for losses suffered during the conflict. The dispute comes amid ongoing US-Iran negotiations over sanctions relief, frozen funds, and broader regional security issues.
