The Presidency has defended the swift rescue of Olaide Adegoke, sister of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu, and her 11-year-old twin sons, who were abducted in Ibadan on June 3 and freed by security operatives three days later. The operation sparked public debate, with some Nigerians questioning why other kidnap victims, including schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State, remain in captivity. Responding on X, President Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, condemned attempts to discredit the rescue, arguing that such reactions undermine security efforts and the sacrifices of law enforcement officers. He also accused some critics of politicising insecurity rather than celebrating the safe return of victims, insisting that successful rescue missions should unite rather than divide Nigerians.
