According to multiple credible news reports, Bola Ahmed Tinubu did call on former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign in 2014 because of insecurity, specifically after the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction.

What exactly happened?
In 2014, after boko haram kidnapped over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, Tinubu—then an opposition leader—publicly criticized Jonathan’s handling of the crisis.

He argued that Jonathan’s government was “in denial” about the kidnapping and lacked a clear solution to the worsening insecurity.

Tinubu said the situation was severe enough that Jonathan should resign.

Why is this being discussed again?
Recent comments from Tinubu’s Special Adviser, Daniel Bwala, resurfaced the issue. Bwala confirmed that Tinubu’s call for Jonathan to resign was “legitimate” at the time due to the scale of insecurity.
