It is disheartening that "On Your Mandate We Shall Stand" now seems to be the anthem echoing through government meetings in Nigeria.
For weeks, our nation struggled to rescue abducted children and teachers from our forests, yet we appeared capable of mobilizing military resources for intervention in a neighbouring country's political crisis with remarkable speed.
Despite the President's directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from unauthorized assignments, many politicians and their relatives continue to move around with enough security personnel to constitute a security unit for an entire community.
At various points in recent weeks, it seemed as though political party primaries received more attention than pressing national concerns affecting ordinary Nigerians.
Our leaders must remember that the true measure of governance lies not in political slogans or power struggles, but in the safety, welfare, and prosperity of the people. Nigeria deserves leadership that prioritizes national interest above personal and political ambitions.
It is time to restore the dignity, security, and glory of our country.
