Your Excellencies Esteemed Representatives of the United States, United Kingdom, and Governments of All 195 Nations, 240 million Nigerians are writing to urgently appeal for your immediate attention and intervention regarding the ongoing abductions of Nigerian children, including the recent kidnapping of teachers and pupils in Oyo State. For more than two decades, Nigerian children have suffered from repeated failures of successive governments and political actors to ensure their safety.
The current situation has reached a critical point. Despite the rescue of high‑profile individuals, including the sister of a former minister, countless Nigerian children kidnapped weeks ago remain missing. Their families continue to wait in fear and anguish, with no meaningful progress reported.
240 million Nigerians are deeply concerned that political leaders—across ruling and opposition parties—are prioritizing political travel and discussions about future elections instead of addressing the immediate crisis affecting our children today. The contrast between swift action for politically connected individuals and the slow or absent response for ordinary Nigerian families has intensified public frustration.
Respectfully we do not want Nigeria to descend into instability similar to what befell Libya. The safety of children should never be politicized, delayed, or ignored. The recent report by FOSAD to Education International highlights the severity of the crisis and the urgent need for global attention.
We therefore appeal to the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, and all 195 nations to support efforts to:
Help locate and rescue the abducted Nigerian children
Strengthen international pressure on Nigerian authorities to prioritize child safety
Provide technical, intelligence, and humanitarian assistance where possible
Ensure that global institutions recognize the urgency of this crisis
Nigerian children deserve protection, dignity, and a future free from fear. We ask for your support at this critical moment.
Thank you for your attention and for standing with vulnerable children everywhere.
