Everyone has the right to support whoever they choose, but I still believe something is fundamentally wrong when your support is tainted.

There comes a stage in life when you must stand for the truth, no matter whose ox is gored. At that point, principles should matter more than personal gain.

Hunger has never been a sufficient excuse for compromising one's conscience. When your support for a cause or a person is driven primarily by what you stand to eat, rather than by what is right, the shame that follows can linger for a very long time. This version keeps the message firm while making it more polished and impactful.
