Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern and frustration shared by many Nigerians regarding the ongoing kidnapping crisis affecting innocent children across the country. While we acknowledge the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John‑Paul and her 12‑year‑old twin sons, Peter and Paul, we cannot ignore the painful contrast: numerous Nigerian children kidnapped weeks ago remain missing.
This disparity has raised serious questions among Nigerians about the consistency, urgency, and fairness of security responses. Nigerians are asking why swift and decisive action was possible in one case, yet similar urgency has not been applied to rescue other children who have been in captivity for over four weeks.
The perception that political status influences the speed and seriousness of rescue operations is deeply damaging to public trust. Nigerians deserve reassurance that every child—regardless of family background—matters equally.
Respectfully we urge your administration to:
Prioritize the immediate rescue of all kidnapped Nigerian children.
Direct security agencies to intensify coordinated operations without delay.
Address the root causes of insecurity, including the long-standing issues that gave rise to Boko Haram and other violent groups.
Demonstrate transparency and accountability in ongoing rescue efforts.
Nigeria is a nation of over 240 million Nigerians, watched closely by the global community. Our children’s safety should never be politicized. We believe the government can do better, and we call on you to act decisively, compassionately, and swiftly.
The rescue of one family should inspire—not overshadow—the urgent need to bring back every missing Nigerian child since 1999
