To strengthen Nigeria’s local industry, systems must be designed to be more resilient and sustainable. Many graduates in chemistry, biochemistry, and related sciences lack local manufacturing industries to apply their skills, leaving them underemployed in unrelated jobs like selling recharge cards. This is largely due to weak industrial development and limited job creation in manufacturing sectors. While importing goods is easier and faster, often requiring only paperwork, local manufacturing is more complex, costly, and risky. However, building strong manufacturing industries is essential for creating jobs, retaining skills, and ensuring long-term national development.
