Sickle cell challenges visit us unprepared and uninvited,
In the morning, afternoon, evening, or night,
On the first day of the week, month, or year,
At the end of a day, week, month, or year,
At a new place or an old place,
Unwanted and unplanned,
Yet, we survive and overcome them,
Because we are not alone,
Because God is with us.
