The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) and key stakeholders in Nigeriaโs insurance industry have applauded Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, after touring the newly commissioned Prof. Nnenna Oti Central Bus Terminal in Umuahia.
The delegation, was in Abia for the 2026 Insurance Chief Executive Officersโ Retreat, described the ultra-modern transport facility as a remarkable symbol of progress, innovation and people-centred governance. Speaking on behalf of the visitors, the Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of NAICOM, Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, said the team had heard numerous positive reports about the transformation taking place in Abia but was delighted to witness it firsthand.
Mr Omosehin stated that the terminal goes beyond transportation infrastructure and represents the restoration of dignity, comfort and confidence for the people. He described the project as a major economic asset that would improve the movement of people and goods, stimulate commercial activities and contribute significantly to the growth of both Abia State and the Nigerian economy. He congratulated Governor Otti and the people of Abia for what he described as a visionary achievement and pledged the support of the insurance industry towards protecting and sustaining the facility for future generations.
Taking the delegation on an inspection tour, the Head of Operations of the terminal, Mr Edet Mfon, explained that the facility was designed to meet global standards and provide passengers with an experience comparable to what is obtainable in modern airports and transport hubs around the world.
From ticketing points and waiting lounges to boarding systems, security, public address systems and convenience facilities, he said every aspect of the terminal was intentionally built to ensure safety, comfort and efficiency. He commended Governor Alex Otti for delivering a world-class project that has redefined public transportation in Abia State and raised the bar for infrastructure development across Nigeria.
