"Travel broadens the mind" so they say.
Or as Mark Twain once wrote, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness..."
There's an intriguing piece in the New York Times today about the growth of 'new' African tourism. According to the UN's World Tourism Organisation, the number of tourists to African countries grew by 8%, the fastest growth in the world.
But the interesting bit is that this growth is mainly being driven by Africans visiting other African countries.
Unfortunately we will no doubt continue to be plagued by prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness in our lives, but change keeps chipping away against it in all manner of ways.
