🧵 Nigeria’s population advantage only matters if skills + productivity match it 🇳🇬
1️⃣ Nigeria’s population Nigeria is often called a “demographic dividend,” but population alone doesn’t create prosperity.
2️⃣ A large youth population is only an advantage when education and skills match labour market needs. Otherwise, it becomes unemployment pressure.
3️⃣ Real growth comes from productivity—how efficiently people turn skills into goods, services, and innovation.
4️⃣ Countries that benefited from population growth invested in industrial capacity, technical education, and job-creating sectors.
5️⃣ Without that alignment, population = potential, not progress.
6️⃣ Bottom line: population is raw energy. Skills and productivity are the engine that converts it into development.
