The United States has proposed new tariffs of up to 12.5% on imports from 60 economies, arguing that weak measures against forced labour create an unfair advantage over American businesses.
Countries with existing bans but limited enforcement could face 10% tariffs, while those without sufficient prohibitions may be subject to higher duties.
The proposal affects several major US trading partners, including the European Union, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, and South Korea, and could have significant implications for global trade.
