The Senate has set up a six-member committee to review outstanding debts owed by the federal government to contractors and engage the Ministry of Finance on plans for payment.

The panel is expected to report on the status of unpaid obligations for completed capital projects, steps already taken by the government, and the prospects for reimbursement.

Lawmakers say clearing the backlog could help restore contractor confidence, stimulate economic activity, and speed up infrastructure delivery across the country.
