True Friendship Part 2

Years later, a sudden phone call broke the silence. Eni was in Jos for an event. But instead of the joyful reunion Olu had always envisioned, Eni’s voice on the line was casual, merely informing her that she was "passing through" the city.
Wounded by the casualness after years of painful silence, Olu’s hurt spilled over. "After all these years of freezing me out, you're in my city and you can't even stop over to see me?" she asked, the sting evident in her voice.
There was a heavy pause on the line. "I will call you back," Eni replied quietly. She never did.
The Reunion in Kaduna
Time moved on, carrying years in its wake, until a professional seminar brought Olu full circle, back to Kaduna. The city was a archive of old memories, and despite the passage of time, the thought of Eni hung heavily in her heart. She decided she wasn't going to leave without trying one last time.
Armed with only an old address, Olu tracked down Eni’s tailoring shop.
When their eyes met across the fabric-strewn room, the years of built-up tension seemed to suspend in the air. What followed was not an argument, but a long-overdue pouring of hearts. Sitting together in the quiet of the workshop, they finally laid down their burdens:
Eni’s Truth: She spoke of the crushing abandonment she felt when the one person she considered family failed to show up during her darkest hour. Oh!! Life happened to her back then.

Olu’s Truth: She shared the painful constraints of her situation at the time, the desperate reasons behind her husband's veto (the terrible dream he had about loosing Olu), and the grief of losing Eni's contact entirely.
True friendship doesn't mean never breaking; it means having the courage to mend.
As the miscommunications were stripped away, the underlying love that had survived years of silence came rushing back. The coldness thawed completely. For the remainder of the seminar, Eni wouldn't hear of Olu staying in a hotel. She hosted her old friend, and in the quiet evenings of Kaduna, they stitched their friendship back together, stronger and wiser than before.

Is CYA a seamstress? Metaphors are everywhere, but they are rarely used as beautifully as this. Here, she compares the act of mending a broken friendship to the literal act of stitching torn fabric. Beyond the layers...
Africa Growth Hub (Official): Sometimes pain changes people in ways words cannot explain. Eni may not have stopped valuing the friendship, she was probably drowning in disappointment and silence felt easier than vulnerability. True friendship is powerful, but timing, pain, and misunderstanding can quietly create distance even be...
