Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Anambra State Government, 240 million Nigerians are writing out of deep frustration, fear, and heartbreak. While we acknowledge the swift response to hunt down the gunmen responsible for the killing of two policemen and two civilians in Anambra, we must ask a painful question: why is the same urgency not shown when 240 million Nigerians are kidnapped, terrorized, and left to suffer for weeks without rescue?
Our children have been missing for more than three weeks. Families are living in agony, waiting for answers that never come. It feels as though the lives of 240 million Nigerians carry no value in the eyes of those elected to protect them.
We are told to vote wisely, yet many are pressured to sell their votes for rice and beans. We are told to reject tribalism and religious division, yet these same divisions are used to distract us from demanding accountability and safety.
If the government can mobilize forces quickly to protect officials, why can the same energy not be used to hunt down boko haram, bandits, and kidnappers who have tormented this nation for over a decade? Why must Nigerians beg for the basic right to security?
For decades, Nigerians have demanded CCTV cameras across all 36 states and the 774 local government areas. This is not a luxury. It is a necessity. It is long overdue. A nation without surveillance infrastructure cannot claim to be serious about security.
We demand:
Immediate action to rescue kidnapped Nigerian children since 1999
Equal urgency in protecting 240 million Nigerians as is shown for government officials
A nationwide CCTV and security monitoring system in the 36 states 774 LGA
Transparent communication with affected families now no photo ops
Nigeria belongs to all of us. Our lives matter. Our children matter. Our safety matters.
