Your Excellency President Tinubu, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern about the current direction of national housing policy and the broader priorities affecting the lives of millions of Nigerians.

While the recent announcement of mortgage support for 1,859 families may be well‑intentioned, it does not address the scale of need across our nation. Over 240 million Nigerians are struggling with economic hardship, insecurity, and lack of access to basic shelter. Mortgages are not a realistic solution for the vast majority of citizens who cannot meet equity contributions, interest payments, or long‑term financing requirements.

What Nigerians urgently need is a bold, inclusive housing strategy that provides free or truly affordable homes across all 36 states and 774 local government areas. A national housing programme of this scale would create jobs, stimulate local economies, and restore dignity to millions of families who have waited for decades for meaningful support.

In addition, the ongoing insecurity and the continued suffering of children affected by boko haram demand immediate and decisive action. We urge your administration to prioritize the safe return of all abducted children and to address the root causes of extremism, poverty, and instability.

Respectfully sir Nigeria deserves leadership that listens, responds, and takes action at the scale of our challenges. We believe you can do better, and we call on you to adopt policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of all Nigerians.
