True Friendship

Olu and Eni’s friendship was formed in Kaduna, born during Eni’s National Youth Service year. They were inseparable. There was a fierce, protective dynamic to their bond—Olu had been naturally drawn to Eni’s quiet resilience as an orphan, and Eni, in turn, became Olu’s anchor, eventually standing as her maid of honour. Even after Olu married and settled in Jos, the distance did nothing to dim their sisterhood.
​Then, life hit Eni with a devastating blow.
​After months of meticulous wedding preparations, the man Eni loved abruptly walked away, leaving her heartbroken and picking up the pieces of a shattered future. Distraught, Olu immediately packed her bags to go to her friend's side. But life is rarely simple; Olu’s husband firmly refused to let her travel, citing grave and undeniable reasons that left Olu with no choice but to stay back.
​Distance, compounded by grief, creates silent chasms.
​Shortly after the incident, Eni withdrew. Her responses grew distant, then cold, and finally ceased altogether. Olu made desperate, repeated attempts to bridge the gap, but her efforts were met with a wall of silence. To make matters worse, a misplaced phone cost Olu all her contacts—including Eni’s. The thread had officially broken.
