The Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT is currently protesting, and it is time for us to look deep into our consciences. A threat to one teacher or student is a threat to the entire educational system.
​When a teacher is killed and students are kidnapped from their classrooms, it should not just be an NUT problem. It is a human problem and a national crisis.
​In my view as a secondary school teacher, every single educational body whether you are in a primary school, a secondary school, or a higher institution needs to join hands in total solidarity. We cannot sit comfortably in our offices or lecture halls pretending it does not affect us just because it did not happen in our own backyard today.
​If we do not stand together to demand absolute safety for our schools now, who will speak for us when the danger knocks on our own doors?
​Let us wake up.
So I ask:Do you agree that all educational institutions should join this protest in solidarity? Please share your honest thoughts below.
