As Daily Times marks its centenary, Folio Media Group Founder and newspaper owner Fidelis Anosike says the publication’s decline began after its nationalisation by the military, following decades as a dominant force in shaping public opinion and Nigeria’s journey to self-rule. Speaking to ARISE NEWS, Anosike traced the paper’s revival through its privatisation and acquisition by Folio Communications, while stressing that in today’s media landscape, “content is king,” with quality journalism remaining the key driver of audience engagement. He also unveiled the ambitious 700-page Nigerian Grand Book project, designed to document the nation’s history, achievements and future aspirations, alongside plans for digital and global editions. Looking ahead, Anosike revealed plans for an AI-powered “Daily Times 2.0,” leveraging the newspaper’s historic archives to transform news delivery, preserve its legacy and redefine Nigerian journalism for a new generation.
