Dear Professional, Civil Servant, Teacher, and Small Business Owner,

I am writing this to you today to say something you rarely hear: Thank you.

You are the quiet engine keeping this country running. You are the buffer between economic pressures and deeper hardship. When the mechanic cannot pay his child’s school fees, he comes to you. When the market woman needs a quick loan for medical bills, you find a way to help, even when your own pockets are shrinking.

You have become the ultimate shock absorbers of the Nigerian system. You absorb the harsh realities of inflation and rising costs so that those below you do not completely fall apart. You are surviving, yes, but at an immense cost to your own peace of mind.

The Power of Your Conscience

But today, I want to appeal to your conscience. Your kindness is keeping people alive, but your silence is keeping them blind.

Because you smile, endure, and help, the masses look at you and assume everything is perfectly fine. They believe you are comfortable. They do not see the midnight calculations you do just to afford fuel, food, and electricity. Because they think you are fine, they do not feel the urgency to advocate for a better reality.

You cannot keep absorbing the weight of these times with your hard-earned sweat. It is time to let your influence do what your wallet can no longer do.

Your True Strength

It is easy to believe that ultimate power belongs to those with the vast resources to command attention during major national milestones. But that overlooks one crucial fact: You have the people's trust.

Broad institutional support often appears only occasionally with temporary relief and promises. You are there every single day. You are the one who actually interfaces with the street. You have organic, deeply rooted social capital that no amount of money can ever buy.

When influence is driven by wealth, it is purely transactional. When you speak to the grassroots, it is trusted advice from a fellow survivor.

The Path Forward

As we look toward the critical years ahead, I am asking you to step into your true power.

Stop carrying the burden alone. The next time the artisan or the security guard asks for help, do not just give them money—give them direction. Explain to them the broader realities making things so difficult right now. Show them that you are navigating the exact same storm they are.

Speak to their conscience just as I am speaking to yours. Tell them that their choices matter, and that true relief only comes through building toward long-term solutions and community progress, rather than accepting temporary handouts.

You are not just the middle class; you are the Bridging Class. You are the bridge between the masses and the future of Nigeria. Stand up, use your voice, and guide the people who already trust you.
