Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has urged a deeper, structured examination of the “Igbo question” in Nigeria, advocating dialogue, negotiation and evidence-based discourse over agitation. Speaking after a theatrical performance depicting the lives of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Nnamdi Kanu, Soludo praised UNN students for igniting a conversation he says has long been missing from academic and political spaces. Reflecting on his personal experiences during the Civil War, he stressed the need for peaceful engagement, warning that actions such as prolonged sit-at-home orders often harm the very communities they seek to defend. The governor highlighted Azikiwe’s legacy of political bargaining, challenged Ndi Igbo to define their collective position within Nigeria, and expressed readiness to engage all perspectives—including groups aligned with Nnamdi Kanu—in a civil and intellectual exchange.
